Discover Your Delighters

Delight Up Your Life

If you're like the average woman, life's daily demands of being wife, mother, co-worker, cook, friend, troop leader, book club member, caretaker (and the list goes on and on) have pushed thoughts of delight so deep into your cranium that a brain surgeon would be challenged to find them.

Or maybe you've just never taken the time to really think about what brings you delight. So if you want to experience pure joy, but need a little help figuring out what brings you joy... read on. Grab a pen and take a pleasurable journey that begins and ends with you. You're worth it.

  • First and most importantly, try not to immediately think about things you want - Instead think about feelings, emotions or a state of mind that you associate with you pure joy and delight.
  • Put yourself in the mood: Listen to your favorite CD, take a bubble bath, find solitude or do whatever heightens your awareness of what makes you feel sexy, romantic, romanced, loved, in love, bubbly, happy, blissful, peaceful, relaxed, secure, confident, exhilarated or ecstatic.
  • Become aware of the thoughts or activities that bring a smile to your face or make you laugh out loud.
  • What do you find yourself longing for while taking a shower, cooking dinner, being stuck in traffic, cleaning, playing taxi driver for the kids, walking on the treadmill, getting dressed to go out... What is it that could-just for a moment-make your life easy, fun, stimulating or exciting?
  • Picture you receiving or experiencing the gift. If you feel the desired state of mind, you're on the right track and should add the delighter to your list.

Roadmap for Completing Your Delight Me List

  • There are no restrictions on what can go on your Delight Me List...you can enter as many or as few items as you like. It's your list and yours alone.
  • Fill your list with your delighters, which may be available at your favorite department store, or they may be thoughtful acts you'd like your mate to do, or they may special activities. Regardless of the gift type, every time you receive a delighter, you will experience a little giddiness over how thoughtful your husband can be.
  • Be as specific as possible about your delighters (otherwise you may diminish the opportunity to experience delight).
  • Remember if 'it' delights you, 'it' should be on your list!

Invest the time to get tuned in to what makes you really light up - let's call them "delighters".
